Crowe Paradis Services Corporation enhances the ISO ClaimSearch® Medicare Secondary Payer Reporting Service

ISO developed the ISO ClaimSearch® Medicare Secondary Payer Reporting Service to help participants comply with the mandatory claim reporting requirements of Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007 (P.L. 110-173). In addition to Section 111 reporting, ISO offers two integrated services through an arrangement with its sister company Crowe Paradis Services Corporation (CPSC), a leading national Medicare-compliance firm. By bundling those services of Medicare compliance, companies are able to ensure compliance, drive savings, and expedite settlements.

Medicare Set Asides
A Medicare Set Aside (MSA) is a sum of money allocated from a settlement to prevent the shifting of responsibility from a primary payer to the Medicare program. MSAs have become standard practice in many workers compensation claims and in some liability claims based on Medicare directives. CPSC’s Medicare Set-Aside services are best in class, providing medical and legal advocacy to drive the lowest justifiable allocation and expedite settlements.

Conditional Payments
When Medicare pays for medical treatment related to an underlying workers compensation, no-fault, or liability claim, its payment is conditional and subject to reimbursement. With the advent of Section 111 reporting, Medicare is in a unique place to aggressively identify and enforce statutory right of recovery. It’s important, however, to note that the amount Medicare demands may include unrelated charges or charges contrary to state law. CPSC averages savings of 86 percent per claim over the Medicare asserted conditional payment or lien amount. Those savings are dramatic and can reduce settlement costs.
